The one where I slept through a tornado

A couple eventful things have happened in the past week, and before I forget about all of it, I wanted to blog.

Last Wednesday nite/Thursday morning, we had some crazy weather around here. A tornado touched down 3 miles from my house that ripped a path of destruction for several miles. They're still cleaning up the mess it left. Thunder rumbled so loud it shook the house. Rain came down so hard schools in the area had delays and cancellations. So guess what I was doing while this happened? I slept...through the entire thing. I vaguely remember waking up around 5:30AM because of a particularly loud thunder clap, rolling over, shoving a finger in my ear, and going right back to sleep. I woke up for work a couple hours later and got on facebook, only to see that a ton of my friends had spent the past 3 hours awake, miserable and huddling in basements. Didn't think much of it, went on with my routine, was on my way to work, when I passed where the tornado went through, heard the cancellations on the radio, and took an hour (normally a 25 minute ride) to get there because of rain and traffic. And that's when it hit me. Omg, I just slept through a tornado. This is not the first time I've woken up in the morning completely clueless about major storms that happened during the nite, and I feel pretty certain I could sleep through World War III or the apocalpyse. What's even weirder, I'm a light sleeper. I'll wake up if someone texts me or the front door opens, or my cat is batting at my bedroom door with her little fuzzy foot. But drop a bomb over my house and I'd never know.

That same day in the evening, it miraculously cleared up and was gorgeous out. I took a friend of mine over to my grandpa's house to go shooting, my first time ever shooting a gun. I was kind of nervous about it. The gun my grandpa gave me to use was a little too long for me and physically felt awkward, and it was also just plain regular awkward because I felt like an idiot holding it up, being watched by 2 people whose arms are not complete without holding a gun. That being said, it turned out to be awesome and a really fun time. I shot a clay pigeon on my 4th shot. And in 10 or so total shots, I shot a second one. Not too shabby.

And lastly, Josh is going to Campinas, Brasil!! After expecting it since Monday, he FINALLY got his mission call Friday. I'm super-dee-duper excited for him. =)
